Landscapes; historical, geological, spiritual, mythical and folklore. There is more to see than what is on the surface, layering of the underland and meaning.
The connection with my surroundings is an important element in my art and spiritual practice. My art pieces are a meditation on nature, how it is felt within, self-reflection and contemplation. Exploring beyond what is visual, capturing a fleeting moment, a sense of place. The Cornish coast, woodlands and the old pagan landscape are places I use as inspiration to start creating, working outside when I can. Primitive places unoccupied by technology and consumerism; particularly up on the hills where the land still feels raw, still bearing traces of how our predecessors occupied and moved through the landscape. I often use these areas as a place for quiet contemplation, places where we can be still from the world but still find a connection. I grew up in South Yorkshire and later moved to Cornwall. I studied art with Plymouth University, graduating in 2015. After graduating I won a year long residency at Krowji Studios in Redruth, Cornwall participating in Open Studio events. I have since shown work in Cornwall and London including Tate St Ives and Tate Modern and featured in local media. My work is owned in private collections worldwide. I currenty work from my home studio. You can read more about my practice in this blog post I am not taking on any commissions at this time |
